Job Summary
Curro Holdings is seeking to appoint a primary school intermediate phase teacher at Windhoek Gymnasium in Windhoek. The role involves teaching and coordinating a range of subjects as per the Cambridge curriculum for the Year 3 phase. The teacher is responsible for the active teaching, knowledge transfer, skills development and growth of positive attitudes among learners through integrated and focused teaching approaches.
Job Description

Planning          

  • Develop a year and term plan and create customised work schemes in accordance with the Namibian syllabi.
  • Streamline work plan in line with internal assessment roster for the term
  • Set up the demarcation for each assessment during the term as per the grade
  • Monitor and adjust planning throughout the term as per unforeseen events
  • Enrich learning and teaching materials where and if possible

 

Planning and own class management     

  • Set up assessment roster for the term

  • Monitor and adjust planning throughout the term as per unforeseen events
  • Set up and design of classroom / Learning Area for optimal performance of class and based on specific needs
  • Setting of rules and boundaries to manage discipline – specifically during VA (various activities periods) each morning
  • Communication and relationship building with parents (whatsapp groups, newsletters, sporting letters, outings letters etc.)

 

Assessment process management            

  • Setting and moderation (pre and post) of assessments including formal (FAT) and continuous (CAS)
  • Prepare revision packs, notes and lessons
  • Active invigilation during assessments
  • Marking and moderation of assessments within specified time period
  • Return of assessments and class correction and revising on topics

 

Homework planning and management   

  • Planning of homework per subject
  • Review homework, corrections and revise key topics
  • Marking of homework every second or third activity in depth or based on subject requirements
  • Manage peer marking process

 

Teaching          

  • Take attendance registers daily
  • Measured Academic Achievement
  • Measured Academic Improvement
  • Plan lessons to be interactive and creative
  • Make use of modern days tools and processes
  • Managing the teaching pace based on the learners
  • Set up workbooks as per specifications
  • Make sure that learners are aware of events, homework etc.

 

Extramural coordination and activities   

  • Plan and manage assigned extramural activities (sport/ culture/ other e.g. outings, science fairs, etc.)
  • Attend practices and sporting fixtures
  • Take attendance registers
  • Attendance at school activities as assigned
  • Manage outings and attend
  • Subject and grade meetings

 

The contract period is 7 April -31 July

Key Skills / Requirements
  • B ED / Post Graduate Certificate of Education
  • Honours in teaching focus area
  • Must have Cambridge Curriculum experience
  • Teacher of Intermediary Phase 2 years
