Key Skills / Requirements
Main duties/responsibilities:
- Cash books:
- Processing to correct general ledger account on a dialy basis
- Ensure that cash book(s) balance
- Petty Cash
- Managing petty cash as per policy
- Processing of expenses on a weekly basis
- Ensuring that cash book balance to actual cash
- Suppliers:
- Ensure that supplier invoices comply to claim vat
- Processing suppier invoices to correct general ledger accounts
- Monthly reconciliations
- Weekly and monthly payments
- Supply a monthly age analysis with notes to the RA
- Debtors
- Maintain accurate debtor accounts
- Correcting journals
- On a weekly basis clear the 101WAG account and follow up on un known deposits
- Submission of monthly billing information to ensure correct billing of school fees and any additional income streams
- Update monthly debit orders on Synergy
- Manage the pending and the approved list on Synergy
- Resolving any queries received from parents
- Manage the monthly outstanding debtors
- Assist with write off. Journals
- Collect on outstanding debt with assistance of Debtors clerk
- General ledgers
- Ensure correct allocations
- Reconciliations of 7800 and 7900 fund accounts
- Supply answers regarding vat queries received
- Supply information as per audit queries
- Budget control
- Assisting the executive head with annual budget preparations, including preparing the final budget for Exco review
- Assisting the executive head with monthly budget control
- Provide available budgets to various budgeting officers
- Must be able to provide reasons for actual:budget variances
- Management reports
- Prepare the monthly management report timeously with comments on under/over spend
- Financial Policies control
- Ensure that financial policies are adhered to throughout the school
- Report any variations to the executive head and regional accountant
Qualifications:
- Minimum qualification: Accounting degree, Honours degree will be an advantage
Experience:
- At least 10 years in an accounting role
- Previous school environment environment not essential but an advantage
Skills:
- Not required but helpful: Evolution
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
- Good verbal and written communication
- Organised and able to meet deadlines
- Detail orientated
- Approachable and calm
